Over
150 healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, nurse
practitioners, dieticians, and physician assistants participated in the Stark Diabetes
Center Third Annual Conference at the Galveston Island
Convention Center.
The 2-day conference was designed
to address the challenges patients face in living with diabetes
in today’s world and how health professionals can make a
difference. Major educational funding for the event
was generously provided by the Emmett and Miriam McCoy
Foundation.
The conference theme was titled "Diabetes Care: Targeting
the Barriers", and included a wide variety of topics.
Karmeen Kulkarni, MS, RD, BC-ADM, CDE, Vice President of Health
Care and Education for the American Diabetes Association gave a
keynote address at a special luncheon.

Bajaj, Director Stark Diabetes Center (course
director), conference speakers, and all participants who made
